BOLTON Wanderers' winless start to the Championship season continued when they went down 1-0 to an Andy Johnson goal for QPR at the Reebok.
Johnson finished off a neat Rangers move on 54 minutes to infict a second successive defeat on the Whites on a day they had unveiled a statue outside the Reebok of club legend Nat Lofthouse.
In front of nearly 15,000 fans, Dougie Freedman made three changes to the team that lost at Nottingham Forest a week earlier, pairing David Ngog - over his illness - and Jermaine Beckford in atack.
There was also a surprise recall for Tim Ream in a more advanced midfield role with Darren Pratley serving a one-match suspension.
It was an even first half but Wanderers had the better chances, Beckford dragging two efforts wide and a superb Rob Green save tipped Medo's thunderbolt onto the post.
But after the interval, Rangers struck when a quick passing move ended with a low cross from Clint Hill on the left providing a tap-in for the returning Johnson from six yards.
The Whites tried in vain to get a leveller with Green again coming to QPR's rescue to deny substitute Craig Davies on 82 minutes.
They could not muster up a goal as their unbeaten home league record in 2013 came to an end and the winless start stretched to four matches.
